Prairie Scapes - Design Professionals "Landscaping With Alternatives" The Prairie Scapes Name

Prairie Scapes - What's in a name? Business name's have all sorts of origins. Joe's Landscaping just didn't cut it. For one thing, at the time our business was started - no one by the name of Joe worked with us. At first glance, the 'Scapes' part of the name is easy - considering Landscaping is our business. 'Prairie' makes clear sense considering our location and market. It also has major significance to the Prairie Horticulture Certificate that one of our founders, Fern Kobewka, has. But there is another basis for P.S. The initials P.S. have a noteworthy meaning to Alberta, particularly the Central Alberta area. Paul Sveinson lived and farmed for many years in the Burnt Lake area, west of Red Deer. As a young boy, he arrived during those homesteading times with his family. The Sveinson and Swainson name is well known around these parts. The other founder of Prairie Scapes, Leonard Paul Kobewka, is Paul's grandson. He is proud of the heritage that brought him back. He spent much time at Grandpa and Grandma's (Paul and Violet's) farm as a boy. Len and Fern are here to stay - and Prairie Scapes will be a part of a continuing heritage.
